MixTape With Dave Blackburn
As soon as he heard his near namesake, Tony Blackburn on pirate radio all those years ago, Dave Blackburn knew he had to follow in his footsteps. So, after failing to find work as a pirate, he decided to try the radio thing and that’s how he found himself at Sunny G.
Resisting the urge to call it the Yo Ho Ho Show, in deference to his lost piratical ambitions, he remembered the many hours he spent, lovingly collating cassette tapes in a vain attempt to pull a girlfriend, and he called his show MixTape.
Created with just as much love, MixTape with Dave Blackburn attempts to share his vast and varied music collection with you to create a mixture of old favourites, tunes you remember but haven’t heard for ages and stuff that deserves to be played, but doesn’t air on mainstream radio.
Avoiding Hard Rock and any of the “Metal” genres, you can expect to hear music of every other genre, of every decade from early 20th century right up to today, with the best in contemporary music from all over the World.
MixTape features special guests most weeks from every walk of life, such as local musicians, artists, representatives of women’s groups, community and charity workers and folk who are trying to protect the environment. If you do something that you think everyone should know about, contact Dave on his Facebook page, MixTape with Dave Blackburn, or email [email protected] making sure you put “MixTape with Dave Blackburn” in the subject box.
